The original texture of the material itself is quite fascinating, and combined with the changes in light in the space, life can be more integrated into the living space.

In order to broaden the view of the public area, the living room and dining room are integrated to bring in the green scenery, light, and air from outside the house; the scale and material of the space are integrated as the two main axes, and the boundaries of the public space are removed so that each area can be connected. The spatial attributes are defined by the effect of material extension. White-textured materials are selected to better bring out the characteristics of the furniture and accessories.

Sculpting in Time
The epidemic reaching the peak at the eve of the proposal, we change the discussion to video conference. I’m wondering how to make the house owner sitting in front of the screen understand the tiny changes of the perception. Thinking and thinking, I’d better to start doing. Therefore I directly rebuild the wall of the workroom near the window with the natural light and the other wall shined with artificial light. The conference takes place in the afternoon. While discussing the design, with the movies we watch and the words we read, usually we can perceive the beauty showed in the creative scenes bring about some changes with the merging of time and nature. During this period of time, the epidemic lengthens our time at home, thus we see the movie “Dune” and the book written by Dostoevsky “Sculpting in Time”. Therefore we can feel the time changes within the whole day more quietly.
The demand of the house owner is extremely interesting---“There should be two storage areas as soon as we enter the house.”
The house owner has all kinds of big and small suitcases and props when he leads a tour to travel around. These personal belongings take up quite obvious volume. He hopes to put the working items back in place as soon as he gets home. Considering the lights and the air existing in the space, we plan a storage area to meet the needs of the function and the other one is disassembled to be the dust area set in the middle of the entrance. We use several different building volume of scales, using function and reflective materials to redefine the space.
With the limited area, every corner will be used properly. We adopt precise and simple rules to deploy and plan along the slightly winding wall to extend the vision to frame the river view. In addition, we regard the aisles of the connected space as the public area as a whole to proceed our plans. The other needs of the subfield set in the both sides create the rhythm of the places, sculpture lines and time extension.
The main activity area locates in the core of the space. Clean groove suture enhances stereo feeling of the curves. The design of cave cladding makes our body feel stable and calm. Wandering between the light and the shadow, quietly perceiving time, we are reminded to keep the feeling of slight and simple things in our lives. Eventually the house is completed by the efforts of the people from all walks. The house owner and we have the passion of dreams and love toward creation. We work together and carry out the dream with the same goal, lighting up a light in our hearts, enriching carefree lives.

First of all, starting with the layout planning, we list all of the space demands including living room, dining room, dining table for four1, home office, bedroom, dressing room and the main bathroom with separate bath and shower2. We also take the homeowner’s tall and big stature, the newborn baby and the house being located at Taipei mountain area into consideration. Since the environment is too humid, we cut down the wooden design to keep the warm feeling of the house.

People can see the white vapor trail on a stretch of cloudless blue sky. Turtledoves are nesting on the green maple tree. The family members are busy adding living necessities to their house and discussing the newborn baby’s name. The air is filled with the smell of French fries and lemon fizzy water on joyful Saturday night.

The scale, light and shade, and purpose of the space will have similar characteristics depending on the function during configuration planning. Therefore, the selection of materials can enhance the presentation of the appearance and is the closest to the atmosphere felt by the residents.
The material used to define the space separation is FRP with porous characteristics. The material has the characteristics of light transmission, ventilation, and high corrosion resistance. In addition to being used indoors as decorative materials, air conditioning vents can also be integrated into the facade shape. When the light brushes through the three-dimensional structure of the concave surface of the material, the existence of shadows is highlighted, providing users with an interesting living experience.

Space with inornate original materials, marks with traces of demolding and construction, the texture beauty with environmental light refracting unevenly on the walls creates the atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Not only should the design development preserve the traits of the house, but it should know more about the owners’ past lifestyle and his imagination of future life to integrate the most suitable living environment at present.
Public area design adopts space combination of two dimensions. From the living room to the relaxing parlor, we extend the flat space of the first floor horizontally. The field of vision can reach out to the greenness outdoors. The other dimension is to develop upwards. We add an arc air bridge on the second floor to strengthen the advantage of high ceiling and link up the life interaction of the two floors.
The arc air bridge set in the ceiling-raised area goes over the middle of the slat ceiling on the first floor, forming the elegant curve through the angle of vision extension. Built with metal punched materials, the main part of the bridge can superimpose the lights with the traits of the materials. When the lights freely shower down through the apertures or even the shadows created due to movements, the space can be abundantly checkered with lights and shades. The opening of the collection display on the bridge does not totally turn outwards. It holds the marginal flexibility for adjustment. The owner can move his body to and fro freely when he changes his collection displays to form a very interesting active viewing style and to offer relaxation and displays. Therefore people can feel the space from different angles. The space is just like an art gallery and every corner is a specific view.
All the materials and furniture used in the space can embellish energetic colors and integrate wooden and earthenware decoration. The owner can have his preference but still can retain exquisiteness with roughness and simplicity. Lights, air and greenness wander in the space and encircle the owner mildly and firmly. The dwellers can feel secured and comfortable. As the time goes on, they can experience the changes of time and four seasons at home.

Cats are surely the animals who know how best to locate the most comfortable living space. They especially like to chase the sun, stay under the warm sunshine and close their eyes to snooze quietly. People are just the same as the cats. We hope to find the most suitable place at the best time and we don’t like to stay in a house or a room put together at random forever. In other words, if we can consider every possibility in advance while designing a house, thus we can build up the most comfortable and the most suitable residence for people such as from the outdoor winter sunshine and the cool breeze in summer to the indoor lights and width, the difference of elevation, the height of the ceiling and even the site arrangement of beams and walls. Interior space design can’t be separated from the surroundings, the features of the construction bases and privacy protection. There are many situations indoors including the family reunion, personal solitude, friends gathering, reading and listening to music. Only sum up these indoor and outdoor relationship and the possibilities of life, we then can accomplish a various and abundant living space. This is truly the essential key to establish successfully a comfortable residence.
